Drumstick sambar

Now I'm going to show you how to make drumstick sambar in a easy way. Because when doing sambar it takes lots of time. To avoid this,  I'll show you a simple way. Drumstick sambar is a basic Indian cuisine and it was eaten with rice, Idly or dosa. Sambar is made with different vegetables, but one among them was murrungaikai or drumstick. It is very commonly used vegetable in South India for making curries and sambar. Steps are very simple but it tastes great with the flavor of drumstick. Try this once at your home.

Preparation time: 15 minutes 
Cooking time:15 minutes 
Serves:3 to 4

Ingredients:

  1. Toor dal-75 grams
  2. Drumsticks - 2
  3. Onion - 1
  4. Tomatoes - 2
  5. Turmeric powder-1 tsp
  6. Masala red chilli powder - 2 spoon
  7. Tamarind extract - 2 spoon
  8. Salt as required 
For seasoning :
  1. Mustard - 1tsp 
  2. Urad dal - 1tsp 
  3. Cumin seeds- 1 tsp 
  4. Fenugreek - 1tsp 
  5. Pinch of hing
  6. Curry leaves - few
  7. Corriander leaves- few
Methods:

Step 1: pressure cook the dal, onion, tomatoes, turmeric powder, drumstick, Masala red chili powder with 2 to 3 cups of water. 

Step 2: After releasing the pressure, open the cooker and add tamarind extract, salt and bring it to boil for 5 minutes. 

Step 3: Now transfer the sambar to another utensil and place the pressure cooker on stove for seasoning. 

Step 4: Heat oil and add mustard, Urad dal, cumin, fenugreek, pinch of hing and curry leaves. 

Step 5: When they cracks, pour the sambar into it and leave them to boil for 5 minutes. Now off the stove and garnish with coriander leaves. 

Step 6: serve it with rice and ghee.

Pressure cook the onion, tomatoes, drumstick, turmeric powder, Masala red chilli powder with 3 cups of water. 
After releasing the pressure, add tamarind extract and salt. Bring it to boil
Now heat oil, add mustard, Urad dal, cumin, hing, fenugreek, curry leaves and pour sambar into it. 
Now the sambar is ready to serve with rice and ghee. Garnish with coriander leaves.
