Lamp leg soup/ aalu kaal soup

Lamp leg soup is a chettinad speciality that you all know about it. It is otherwise called aatu kaal soup. It is also very easy to cook. This is a very delightful and tasty soup. And also it is very healthy for bones. It is too good for kids when they took a oil bath in the weekends. Let's try this receipe only for you all.

Preparation time:10 minutes 
Cooking time: 10 minutes 
Serves: 2 to 3

Ingredients :

  1. Lamp leg/aatu kaal-1
  2. Shallots/pearl onion- 10
  3. Curry leaves- few
  4. Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
  5. Turmeric powder- 1 tsp
  6. Coriander leaves- few
For grounded paste :
  1. Cumin powder- 2 tsp
  2. Shallots/pearl onions- 6
Methods:

Step 1: place a pressure cooker on stove, add some oil and heat it. 

Step 2: Now add Cumin and finely chopped shallots, curry leaves. 

Step 3: Next add the turmeric powder,  grounded paste of Cumin powder and shallots into it

Step 4: Add the chopped lamp leg with 3 cups of water and salt. Now close the lid of the pressure cooker and cook for 20 minutes in slow flame. 

Step 5: After all the pressure gets released, now the tasty lamp leg soup is ready to serve. Garnish with coriander leaves if you wish. 

Note: if the lamp leg does not get cooked properly cook for another 10 minutes and then serve.

Chop the shallots, lamp leg, and make a ground paste of Cumin and shallots. 
Heat oil, add Cumin, chopped shallots, curry leaves 
Add grounded paste and turmeric powder. 
Add chopped lamp leg
Add 3 cups of water, salt and pressure cook for 20 minutes 
After pressure released, you'll get a tasty soup. Serve it hot.
